NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not connected with a local, state, or federal government agency. The site and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit decisions, employment screening, tenant screening, insurance eligibility, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its role is to identify criminal-record resources serving Albemarle County, Virginia. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.
1. What This Website Is
This is a private reference site operated independently of government. It does not house official criminal records and cannot retrieve a record, perform an official criminal-history check, or submit a filing for a visitor.
Its content routes readers to the actual Albemarle County custodians, including ACPD for its reports, ACRJ for custody records, the Albemarle courts for case files, and Virginia State Police CCRE for an SP-167 history. Virginia's Freedom of Information Act governs qualifying requests to covered public bodies, while §19.2-389 limits dissemination of CCRE criminal-history information. Links to outside research tools may also appear.
2. Rules for Using This Site
As a condition of access, you must not:
- Interfere with site operation or prevent access by another visitor
- Use a bot, scraper, or other automated process on the pages
- Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
- Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
- Use information to stalk, threaten, or harass a person
- Violate federal, Virginia, or local law through your use of the site
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
You may not use information from the site or a linked tool to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. Such conduct may also be criminal. Virginia's Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry is provided for protective public-notification purposes under Virginia Code §9.1-912. Registry information does not authorize vigilantism, harassment, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not prepare a consumer report, credit report, or background check. Our advertising partners and this site do not offer tools designed to evaluate job applicants, rental applicants, insurance eligibility, or creditworthiness. You may not use site or linked-tool information to:
- Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA
- Determine eligibility for a government program, permit, or license
- Assess creditworthiness or decide insurance terms
- Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
- Make an employment or termination decision
A person who needs a report for an FCRA-regulated purpose must use an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider and comply with applicable law. Virginia State Police CCRE controls its official SP-167 route and authorized statutory checks.
5. No Legal Advice
The site does not provide legal advice. General descriptions of Albemarle County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, expungement, or sealing law affects one person. Seek advice from a licensed Virginia attorney for that analysis.
6. No Warranties
All site content and functions are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:
- An outside search provider's result is complete or correct
- The pages contain no defect, bug, or security weakness
- The service will remain continuously available
- Any item of information is current, complete, or accurate
A criminal record may change as a charge is filed, amended, dismissed, expunged, or sealed. Updates and omissions cannot always be avoided. No site statement is an official representation by ACPD, ACRJ, an Albemarle court, Virginia State Police, or another government body.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
The site links to government offices, court portals, state systems, legal resources, and outside search providers. A link takes you to a service we do not operate. We are not responsible for that service's content, availability, charges, or data handling. Review its own terms before use.
8. Intellectual Property
Albemarle County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required before copying, distributing, changing, or creating derivative material from that content.
9. Limits on Our Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from site use, including reliance on information obtained here or through a linked service.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against a claim, demand, or legal proceeding caused by your site use or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.
11. Governing Law
Virginia law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Virginia.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms at any time. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted on this page.
13. Cutting Off Access
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access at any time and without prior notice.
14. Severability
If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be modified only to the extent needed for enforceability.
15. Questions
Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
